Plitvice Lakes--Hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

We arrived at our hotel and the rooms were very interesting. No air. When we opened our balcony door it was right above the entrance where everyone was smoking and laughing/talking till late at night.

The next morning we were up pretty early because we were warned that this place has so many tourists from all over the world and they tend to snatch up all the food. So we went for breakfast early. Oh ya, it was crazy. Dad was so ticked off. Someone pushed and cut in front of him to grab something. I would normally say Dad just doesn't have patience for stuff like that when there's a lot of people, but it was totally crazy, complete chaos in there! We did manage to get some food.

I would just really like a cup of NORMAL coffee though. Oh my goodness, I keep getting different coffees from machines and they taste horrible. I didn't think I'd be that picky about coffee. Then if you get the regular coffee and use milk, their milk tastes funny and makes your coffee taste weird. Oh well.

After breakfast we headed out on our walk/hike around the lakes. They are beautiful!!! The color of the water and the waterfalls--so pretty.

But first, let me explain about the title. Mom and Dad had no idea which entrance to go to. Every time we get in the car they think we should be turning left when we should be turning right. So we find an entrance to the park not far from the hotel. However, as we're buying our tickets they discover it's entrance number #2, not #1. Both times they've gone before they've started at entrance #1. Then they said that we had to go to the other entrance! I was thinking, "What? Why?!" I went over to look at the different maps. I said, "If we start at entrance #2, we can still do the same loop, go past entrance #1 (the zig zag path) and come back to entrance #2. We're still gonna do the same loop and see the same stuff." There was still some doubt, but we headed off on the ferry first. At the end of the day, we'd pretty much seen all that they'd seen 5 years ago, just in a different order.

Dad was so dehydrated! Very glad to get his water!

Later, when we were leaving the hotel for dinner, we saw a path that went straight down to the ferry for the lakes. Aaahhh man...we didn't even have to drive to "entrance #2" and pay for parking!

Dinner was at Lička kuća! Wow, the food was so great. We had lamb, potatoes, bread with cheese, and a mixed salad. I finished off with plum strudel this time. It was a great way to end the night.
