We started the Sound of Music tour by walking to Mirabell gardens where they sang Do-Re-Mi in the movie.
From there we walked and walked to get to the bridge that they run over, but it was under construction...so we walked back a few more blocks to go back into the old city.
At this point we'd actually done quite a bit of walking and Anne wasn't feeling well, so I drove her back to the hotel. It was sad that she had to miss out on the rest of the day. Once I met back up with mom and dad we walked to the fountain, church, cemetery, and Nonnberg Abbey.
The VonTrapp house was next on the list. We drove up to the gate and it opened! Yay! We parked inside, walked around the back yard, and got some pics & video! So cool being there. Mom did very well Mel, you'd be proud. She actually got out of the car and walked to the lake in the picture above, right behind the house. Dad was filming her and commented that she had gone much further this time!
We went up the funicular to the fortress. Had a quick bite to eat and then walked around inside. The view from up there was amazing!
It was a very long day. We walked so much that when we got back to the hotel we decided to x the concert and have dinner at our hotel. If we were staying in Salzburg it all would have been much easier and faster. Oh well. The place we stayed was beautiful. Anne was feeling better and joined us for dinner. However, to top off the long day our dinner was 2 1/2 hrs...I'm not really sure what took so long. There were 3 or 4 waiters coming to the table, but then there were these really long breaks where nobody would come. The food was good. The only one that didn't enjoy it was Anne...rough day for her!
I didn't blog last night because as I was uploading photos I fell asleep with my head on the computer. Anne finally woke me up and told me to get into bed.
