Long drive to Dubrovnik, well worth it!

Up early, yet again. Went down for breakfast--the mad dash for food. Dad got upset again! People are very pushy at this place. I saw that people had this drinkable yogurt stuff that looked really good. I went to go get some and they were out. Had weird coffee again. Sat there waiting for everyone to finish eating and then I saw them bring out another tray of that yogurt. I jumped up out of my chair so fast just to get some peach yogurt...and I got some! Totally cut in front of people.

I started driving the lengthy trip, basically the whole way on the good highway. Dad took over midway when we started heading down toward the coast. It was absolutely beautiful to drive by all the little towns right on the coast.

Arrived in Dubrovnik around 1330. It was soooo hot! The car said 33 degrees, but it was really humid too. We dropped our stuff off in our room and then headed to Mom and Dad's to check it out. Oh my goodness!!! Their room is huge! I think their bathroom is the size of our whole room. Very nice. There's also a lovely complimentary plate of fruit in both of our rooms.

We quickly got our bathing suits on and were ready to hit the Adriatic. Anne, Mom & Dad all got in first as I took pics and video. They tried to tell me it was cold. When I got in it felt refreshing, but not cold. You can see so far down. Because there's no bottom really, it's hard to tread water for a super long time. I didn't bring my air mattress! I stayed out for a while and then took a break, tried out the pool, and then went back in the sea. It was so nice. I swam out to the buoy, but got a little freaked out when I could see the water get really dark. I'm not a fan of super deep water, can barely watch it on TV, let alone be in it. I don't know how deep it really was, but judging by the darkness below...way too creepy for me!!! The view from the water of our hotel and the old city was unbelievable.

Went to dinner at Poklisar, a pizzeria in the old town. One of the cruise ships was anchored out a ways and had tenders from the ship coming and going. Lots of people walking around! Mel, I had the 4-cheese pizza there. Anne and I split it. So good, had to finish my half.

I asked for cold bijela kava and it was so good! Finally, good coffee.

Later we walked down the main street inside the old city. It was so cute with all the little shops. At the end of the street was the Gelato place Mom & Dad went to with Mel five years ago. Dad asked if there were staff from five years ago and the boys knocked on the back wall. This guy came out and Dad told him (in Croatian) that he has him on video throwing scoops of gelato in the air from 5 years ago. Dad turned on the video camera and the guy did another gelato trick. Then he gave us all free gelato and said to come back again, but sooner. So nice!!!

Tomorrow morning we'll be walking the wall. It opens at 0800 and it's probably going to be hot again. Better get to bed. Laku noć everyone!
